10 Years Gone

Today marks my 10th anniversary since I left Alabama and what an eventful 10 years it’s been. Drove like crazy to escape the south > met the future ex > worked liked crazy cataloging books for the law library > got engaged > got a promotion > got married > bought a house > future ex graduated law school > learned music theory > got tenure > learned to play piano > got Marley > saw various jam bands in and around Las Vegas > learned XHTML, CSS, Javascript > counseling with and without the future ex > separation > divorce > bought my own house > teach guitar to neighborhood kids > work out like crazy > Marley is the best dog in the world> take yoga and finally find some zen.

Life is good!!!

Young @ Heart

This is the best movie I’ve seen in quite a while. While the premise seems comical, (a group of octogenarians singing punk, new wave and funk songs), I was sharing in the groove right from the start of the movie. I don’t want to give too much away, but they ROCKED the shit out of ‘I Wanna Be Sedated.’  Go see this flick. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Finally….

After the craziest college football season ever, we finally have a team in the BCS National Championship game. We took out a $25 ticket on LSU at 10-1 back in June. If they win, we’ll get a $250 payout.  Maybe I’ll be able to quit my day job.

jamming

I’ve been going through a really tough time the past month or so and have been very very depressed. The sadness has overshadowed everything in my life so much so that I haven’t been doing the things I used to do. Today was the first time in about a month that I picked up my guitar. Even though I’m rusty, it felt really really good to just jam.  It was a very good catharsis. At first I played my acoustic and tried singing. I started with Prince Caspian, then Dire Wolf, then Dark Star and then I pulled out my Les Paul for rest of Dark Star>I Know You Rider, and finished of the Dead set with Scarlet>Fire.  Then I turned on my new power screamer and let it rip.  It lifted my spirits a little bit. I should do that more often.

Van Halen?

Van Halen announced their 40 city North American Tour. The lineup, oddly enough, will be brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen, David Lee Roth and Eddie’s son Wolfgang on bass.

When was Michael Anthony kicked out of the band?
